| Robert S. Hopkins, III, is a historian and consultant. He served for eight years in the United States Air Force as an officer and pilot, flying KC-135s on aerial refueling missions, EC-135s on airborne command post and radio relay missions, and RC-135s on strategic reconnaissance missions, as well as combat sorties during Operation DESERT STORM. His assignments included bases in Indiana, Alaska, and Nebraska, as well as deployments around the world. Following his military service he returned to graduate school. Hopkins earned a Ph.D. in history, specializing in U.S. and Soviet cold war national security policy, strategic airpower, and the Age of Jefferson. He taught Middle East history, the history of Western Civilization, and U.S. cold war diplomatic history at Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. He has appeared on a number of television programs, and served as a host for the radio program "Talking History." | ||||||||
